The dates for this year’s The Late Shows have been announced as Friday 18 and Saturday 19 May 2012.
The Late Shows is NewcastleGateshead’s legendary culture crawl, with up to 50 cultural venues staying open after hours to host a range of events. Already confirmed to take part in the 2012 event are the Great North Museum: Hancock, The Biscuit Factory, Lawnmowers Theatre Company, Laing Art Gallery, Victoria Tunnel and Discovery Museum.
The Late Shows 2011 attracted a record-breaking 24,000 visits to 46 venues and it is hoped that this year’s event will be even bigger.
Bill Griffiths, The Late Shows project manager says:
“The line-up for The Late Shows 2012 is already taking shape, with DJ sets, hands-on art activities and behind the scenes tours just some of the events which have been proposed.
“The Late Shows is always one of the main events in the region’s cultural calendar and I really hope that even more people will join us this year to be a part of it!”
The Late Shows marks the international event ‘Museums at Night’, which takes place across Europe
