Description:

What would be a lasting and significant souvenir of Newcastle for you? The artists at 36-Lime-Street twirl the tourist industry by the tail, and take travel memorabilia further than it’s been taken before. 

Join in with a series of workshops from the many different studios, everything from creating ceramic plates to making your own paper dragon! Meanwhile, in the bowels of the site, the complex’s associated artists will be opening their studios to all and sundry – to the quizzical, to art-patrons and plain nosy parkers.

Friday 14 May
7:30 – 8pm
Drawing Techniques workshop
Artist: Louise Bradley, Studio: 2A
The title speaks for itself, but be warned, this workshop might be messy! 30 minute activity, limited places.

Friday 14 May
8 – 9pm
Layered Drawing Workshop
Artist: Steve Marshall, Studio: 3B
Using Graphite and water based drawing materials with inks; watercolour and Chinese brushes, participants will create a painting from a series of layered drawings and overlapped images, all in the space of an hour. 1hour activity, limited places.

Paper-dragon Workshop
Artsist: Mai Twynham, Studio: L2 The Office
An origami workshop to make your own paper dragon and learn about Dragon Culture from the Far-East.
Recycled magazine gift bags and gift boxes. Get ready to have fun, and be inspired. Drop in activity, limited places. Cost: £1.50/Small paper dragon £2.50/Large paper dragon/£2.50 Mag-Bag/£1.50 Mag-Box

Saturday 15 May
7:30 – 11pm (Last entry 10pm.)
 ‘Greetings from Newcastle’ workshop.
Artist: Helena Seget, Studio: 3E
Create your own souvenir of the evening.  Ceramic plates and image transfers are provided.  Plates can be collected after firing. Drop in activity, limited places. Cost: £10 per 8” plate including transfers and firing.
